I've got yet another problem: for some reason, my Mandrake Linux 10.1 Community Edition allows only one program to sound. That is, when I launch Amarok, even if silently, I cannot use xine because the video will be mute! I'm using KDE, soundcard is built-in, of AC'97 family. There is a choice of 4 drivers for it but nonetheless the result of changing them is scarcely different. artswrapper is running with highest priority possible and has SUID root. I've taken advantage of almost all possibilities of tuning up the KDE Control Centre. The result is no different. What could the solution look like? ramfree17 Posted September 22, 2005 Report Share Posted September 22, 2005 try to search the board for AOSS. there was a project that should address the sound system sharing (multi-jack or something) but i dont know if its ready for primetime. somebody said applications need to be reprogrammed to support that new sound framework. ciao!
