tcn03u
Hi guys, I just upgraded from Mandrake 10.1 to Mandriva LE 2005. But when the system loads all I can see is the blue background and the mouse cursor. Now the only way I can get Linux working is by selecting failsafe from the Bootloader menu >< Any help appreciated Edited September 23, 2005 by tcn03u
aioshin
try to rename the .kde folder in your /home/user/ when on failsafe, then reboot, it might be that LE2005 does not recognize the settings of your old mandy.

ianw1974
How did you do the upgrade? From CD/DVD? Or did you use urpmi mirrors?
tcn03u
I used the 3 CD version
ianw1974
Try booting to failsafe, then login, su and supply root password, and run XFdrake to reconfigure your display in case something is wrong. Or type mcc and go into display in there and reconfigure. It could be something wrong with X.
tcn03u
I upgraded to LE 2006 RC2 and it's OK now :)
AussieJohn
Since 2006-rc2 is not a final OS yet and Mandriva 2005-LE is known to be rock solid, it seems like you made some subtle change to your install routine that cleared the problem. I do not think there was a problem with 2005-LE that was corrected by 2006-rc2. Anyway you have a working system and that is the main thing. Just keep in mind that 2006-rc2 is released for bug fixing purposes so you could encounter some instability. In other words you are using a prototype. Cheers. John.
