Another problem installing Mandrake 10.1!

Hi

I am facing the following problem when installing Mandrake 10.1:

After customizing the installation packages and installation starts I start getting messages about errors in certain files with a question on whether to proceed nevertheless or not. The number of files for which the errors are reported is great, here are the first three:

idconfig-2.3.3-21mdk.i586

libreadline4-4.3-7mdk.i586

bash-2.05b-22mdk.i586

but the list goes on an on.. The messages ask if installation should ignore the missing files and move on. I pressed OK on all of them, and after all messages end, they loop back and I'm back with the first message about idconfig and so on.

I thought the problem was with the CD image, so I made sure the md5 checksum was correct and made a fresh CD. But I got the same situation!

I tend to think the problem has to do with my computer running a customized HP Windows installation (I intend to dual boot the Windows XP that came with the PC with Mandrake).

My machine's specs (HP Pavilion a1110n):

P4 Celeron, 512Mb, Single HDD 160

Thank you for helping a newbie :help:

Another guess - but it may be due to the customisation...?

Have you tried just going with the default install?

(I wouldn't have thought the customised WinXP installation would get in the way, as it's a separate partition. Mind you, if you didn't defrag it before you started, you may lose bits of it when Mandriva partitions the free space!).

Yes I did try the default installation, and got the same thing.

Before I started with the Linux installation, I prepared the required partitions under Windows using PartitionMagic, so I don't suppose I should be worried about problems in this regard... I guess

I used the distribution from:

http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=29

could it be that this distribution is somehow damaged? In any case, I did check the md5 sum before I burned the ISOs and they checked out fine.

I read in another place that there could be some problem with an option in the bios called ACPI (I have no idea what ACPI is!):

http://www.linuxcompatible.org/thread28356-1.html

I looked in my BIOS for ACPI but didn't find it!
