cups - print to file

i am using 2005. all updated. checked cups files, all ok.

if i try to print to pdf i get the following error

 

A print error occurred. Error message received from system:

 

Abnormal process termination (gs -q -dSAFER -dPARANOIDSAFER -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=$out{/home/jeffrey/Desktop/print.pdf} -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -c .setpdfwrite -f '/tmp/kde-jeffrey/kdeprint_MWE9vT6p' )

 

tried to copy then paste

 

gs -q -dSAFER -dPARANOIDSAFER -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=$out{/home/jeffrey/Desktop/print.pdf} -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -c .setpdfwrite -f '/tmp/kde-jeffrey/kdeprint_MWE9vT6p'

 

to konsole then get

 

ESP Ghostscript 815.01: **** Could not open the file {/home/jeffrey/Desktop/print.pdf} .

**** Unable to open the initial device, quitting.

 

if i print to ps i can open with KGhostview but not acrobat.

i have to set print system currently used to (Generic LPD Print System (default) seems to print pdf's & ps files.

well i went into configure your desktop, peripherals, printers. logged in as admin then set to cups server. NOW WORKS.......

get this error now!

 

Could not open /home/jeffrey/Desktop/print.pdf which has type application/x-zerosize. KGhostview can only load PostScript (.ps, .eps) and Portable Document Format (.pdf) files.

 

i cant understand how i minute it works then don't using cups
