pb_90
Ok, well I recently got a laptop, installed Mandriva on it, and opted to erase the windows partiton, I want only linux...i auto allocated it, so everything looked good...then the installation proceeded and it came to the screen where it says your configuration settings. All are fine except me Graphics says Not Configured....so I try my best to configure it. Now for the problem: When I remove the boot cd, start my computer in order to start linux, it takes me to LILO the bootloader, I select Linux (or the Linux-non-something or failsafe, none work) and it looks like it will load but then it takes me to a black screen with text, says Welcome to Mandriva, and asked for login...once i login it just says paul@local host :$ or whatever. Its like it only will start in a shell or something. Please any suggestions are appreciated!
scarecrow
There's no bootloader error, since you can login. Most probably you have set up the graphical server not autostarting. What happens if you login normally, as you already did and then type in startx Does a graphical desktop come in or not?

spinynorman
Remember that Linux commands are case-sensitive: if it's not there, there's something seriously wrong... :)
pb_90
it says (EE) No devices detected. and Fatal Server Error" no screens found and XIO: fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server":0.0"
spinynorman
That would be because your graphics are not set up. Try to set up using: su [enter root password] XFdrake
