Guest Darknb Posted August 10, 2005 Report Share Posted August 10, 2005 (edited) I have a toshiba A75 S206 (atheros wifi) and am running mandrake LE 2005. I followed the mandrake specific instructions on the madwifi site for installation. There were no problems. I then did the following things: insmod wlan insmod ath_hal modprobe ath_pci modprobe wlan_wep (just to be sure) ifconfig ath0 down ifconfig ath0 up iwconfig (shows ath0 to be up) iwlist ath0 scan (i can see my essid*) iwconfig ath0 key my WEP key open iwconfig ath0 essid my essid iwconfig ath0 ap any dhclient ath0 dhclient fails after about a minute of searching. I have also tried this under other distros with the same result. *Also of note is that my essid is a hidden i.e. it is display as "", but I do know what it should be and enter it in with iwconfig.
