Aomighty
I was wondering, is ther any way I can get sound to play in two applications at once and not lag? I have a sufficient quality sound card to do it... Is there any good multitasking sound wrapper? When I try to do two things at once with say artsdsp, it usually lags. Thanks. devries
The lag is cuased by the buffer. Open the kde control center (kcontrol), sound & multimedia, soundsystem and adjust the slide. Mandriva le2005 comes with alsa 1.0.8 patched for dmix always on. Meaning you don't have to do anything. However if the app you listen to can only use oss (like Skype) you need to install aoss (urpmi aoss)). Jargon: it's not 'mutlitasking' but 'mixing'. Sound 'in' en 'out' at the same time (for example Skype or a VOIP app) is called 'full duplex'
Aomighty
Thanks a bunch. Should I adjust the buffer to be low or high?
