Problem with rebooting my laptop

Hello everybody,

I don't know if my problem fits in this part of forum, but since it is with my laptop probably it does.

OK. I have ASUS laptop (A4BOOD) with MD 2005 limited edition installed on.

When I try to restart or shut down, it freezes. The very last message it displays is:

md:stopping all md devices

After displaying this messages it does nothing.

Any idea where the problem is? :thanks: for any help...

I have the same thing on my desktop when shutting down(not on reboot) and have to manually shutdown from there. Actually, it goes a little farther and the hard drive spins down but the box won't shutdown and I have to hit the button to kill it. I assume it has something to do with acpi power management which is not enabled on my desktop as it is known to create problems at times. You can try enableing acpi in mandrake control center>boot>set up how the system boots and see if that helps. Or if it's enabled, try disabling it.

Md devices has to do with software raid in linux by the way. I think it is shut down before the hard drive is told to power down or stop.
