I'm trying to use a Best Data V.92/V.44 External Modem (connected through a serial port) and this modem does work on a Microsoft computer. My internet provider is Earthlink. I queried my modem with kppp connect and entered my password, username, and carrier number, the modem is set as /dev/ttyS0 as instructed by another owner of Mandrake. Whenever I try to connect a short while after 'logging onto the network...' appears I get a 'Time expired while waiting for the ppp interface to come up.' geden Posted June 29, 2005 Report Share Posted June 29, 2005 Fire up Mandrake Control Center, chose the network & internet section, chose new connection, answer the questions that follow... when finished try kppp again...hope this helps..
