Guest Rob
Like others, no isdn internet connection. New installed 9.0 on two computers, one with light isdn and other with old isdn install option. Both computers are stand alone and connected correct when using suse 7.3, so no hardware problem expected. The files mentioned in MUO document isdn dial-up are not there, just rpm-files, so does this apply to 9.0? Noapic brings no change. According to this document i tried ifup ippp0 : isdn light install activating device ifcgf-ippp0 loading network settings : ifcfg-ippp0 loading module for ippp0 adding ippp device ippp0 configuring device ippp0 EAZ/MSN (for ippp0) is 0 security is on dialmax 1times hangup timeout 180 incoming hangup on charge hup off layer 2 protocol is hdlc layer 3 protocol is trans encapsulation is syncppp slave-activation delay 10 sec ippp0 bound to 0 isdn conf read from /etc/isdn/isdnctrl.conf adding device ippp0 SIOCSIFDSTADDR : cannot asign requested address starting ppp-deamon if needed starting ppp-deamon for ippp0 root@localhost rob # isdn old install dev arg is required missing configfile ifcfg-ifcfg-ippp0 usage ifup-routes <net device> root@localhost rob # I dont understand what is happening here, but i strongly feel it could well be a minor problem, something with the address of the device. I cannot figure it out so to me its a big problem. one more strange thing i noticed: in the mcc internet conn. conf tool the connection type is mentioned as isdn Internal. why internal ? Guest Rob
problem above was caused by an installation error i made. somewhere during installation i changed the dafault option ""auto"" for dial mode. went to mcc-hardwarelist-ethernetcard and ran the config tool, choosing light isdn, and left dial mode ""auto"". when ready it reports that there are problems with the connection, i ignored that. went to mcc-network & internet-connection, configured isp password etc., and pressed connect. Then network monitoring turns up, and everything works fine now, on both computers. Rob.
