Guest Flyboys
A newbie to linux. Installed mandrake 10.1, no problem with the install. Installed new connection to my ISP, but when it dials out it disconnects after a few seconds. The error message "Timeout expired while waiting for the ppp interface to come up." Don't have a idea what that is. Can anyone help? If ther is any better way of connecting , let me know.
rolf
I've seen that error before but can't remember why. Did you search at www.google.com? Otherwise, are you using kppp to configure the connection? I have had the best luck with that. It is the kdenetwork-kppp package, which you might have to install (as root): urpmi kdenetwork-kppp
scarecrow
Change the timeout default on kppp (you must run it as root the first time). Another very good dialer, which does not need KDE, is xisp (not standard in most Linux distros): http://xisp.hellug.gr/
