If you've been frustrated after trying "kamera" to use your digital camera in KDE, there is a (much) better solution: DigiKam (digikam.sf.net) . Packages are available for 8.2 and 9.0 (in contrib).

This is an awsome program with gallery management support, and by far the easiest and fastest program I've ever used for my HP PhotoSmart 318. It also has a Generic USB Disk Drive option, if your camera is not otherwise supported.

It works really well. It has gallery management with photo thumbnails, and works 100% with an HP PhotoSmart 318 and a Cannon PowerShot S40, which are the only camera I've used.

It also has a few hard-to-notice features that are really helpful.
