lakelover
When I click on "Monitor Network" on the modem icon, it doesn't read either the sending or receiving speed or the connection time. There must be a setup or enable switch someplace. How do I get it to work?
devries
Make sure it's reading the correct networkcard. Perhaps you have a mobo with more then one networkports or 2 networkcards? (Change eth) to eth1 or 2 or 3)
AussieJohn
Have you installed KNEMO ??? In it you can select a whole range of things you want to monitor, including the ones you mentioned. It is an excellent piece of work. Cheers. John.

(Change eth) to eth1 or 2 or 3) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have just one network which is a standard dial up ISP. Where or how do I select the network for monitoring? I don't see a "setting" option on the network monitoring window.

spinynorman
Where do I get KNEMO? Go to rpm.pbone.net, put knemo in the search box, and select the options you need. :)
lakelover
I feel like an idiot. . . I downloaded Knemo, installed it and now I can't find it to activate. According to the down load site, it has to be started in Control Center/KDE Components/Service Manager. Okay, but I can't fine those directories in the control center. I'm one of those who needs ABC instructions.
spinynorman
If you've got Mandrake 10.0, go into MCC - System - Services, if not, try somewhere similar. If it's not there, we may have to try the command line... :o
lakelover
I have Knemo up and running. After closing and reopening Linux, Knemo loaded. I've configured it and all is fine.

AussieJohn
That is one of the things not emphasised enough, namely that you have to log out and back in again for it to initiate. I usually reboot and since one so rarely needs to, I don´t regard this as an issue. After that it is clear sailing. Cheers. John.
