Guest anon
OK, Im running a beta so I expect problems, but never came across this one before. I did a urpmi.addmedia bla bla bla. It says its added the media and then " urpmi data base is locked " ??? How ? why ? as root ?? any ideas ?
Guest anon
Never mind, I fixed it. If it happends to anyone else, do this: In a term, type 'ps -A' and look for a process with 'urpmi' in its name. REM the PID. then type 'kill -9 PID', replacing PID with the number matching urpmi ( or any other stuck app ) Of course you could always reboot to fix it.......REBOOT ??? Whats that ????
ramfree17
gramps its easier to just issue a $ killall [processname] . no more getting the PID. :) ciao!

I know that, but I like getting the PID instead, sometimes you get more info as to whats going on, and possible causes. Besides, I don't like that word " killall " it sounds so final
ramfree17
im just happy to have that. i once created a bourne script in a solaris machine that does the exact thing as killall, well its not so robust but it does get the job done. :) ciao!
