Waimea 4.0

I'm afraid I'm having trouble compiling this onto my Mandrake 9.0 system. I get errors when configuring about it not being able to get a certain command necessary for Xrandr. I managed to find an rpm for 3.5 which works on mandrake 9.0, but the 4.0 rpm for Mandrake cooker doesn't work on my system. Anyone know of any rpm's for Mandrake 9.0 that might work?

what errors do you get when you try to compile? post the exact errors, you might just need a few rpms. or, if you want to concentrate on the RPMs, what errors do you get when you try to install the RPM?

most likely, if the cooker RPM doesn't work, you won't find one that will. my guess is you're missing some dependencies.

i've both compiled waimea and installed it from the RPM on my 9.0 system, so, whatever problems you may run into, I probably already did :).

Ok, here's the error that I get when I configure:

** WARNING: Could not find XRRSelectInput in -lXrandr

** WARNING: Disabled Xrandr extension support

Now, I've tried compiling anyway, but it doesn't seem to install correctly and I can't run it properly.

Using the mandrake cooker rpm, I get the following dependency errors:

libXft.so.2 is needed

libfontconfig.so.1 is needed

Naturally, there are no rpm's with those names on the list -_-

I don't mind compiling the prog either, it's all the same to me. I have a feeling it'll work better if I install from an rpm however because it would be adapted to system.

go here: http://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distribut...drake/9.0/rpms/ (this is a good source for a lot of RPMs that are hard to find sometimes)

download the XFT rpms (regular and devel-i always get both, because i may need them later) and also the fontconfig rpms. those are what you're missing, then try to re-install the RPM.

FYI: when you run into dependencies like that, try going to rpmfind.net and doing a search for the missing files. it will usually turn up the RPM you need, or atleast give you an idea if no mandrake RPMs are found.

i used the src rpm from cooker and rebuilt it without any problems except that it also compiled without xrandr support. i did a search for xrandr on rpmfind.net and it returned rpms xfree86. maybe xrandr needs a newer/different version of xfree from the ones that came with mdk 9?
