foot
Hiya Just trying out Ubuntu (Hoary) and it appears to have problems with my NTL Broadband connection (2Mbit thing that goes through a set-top box and ethernet). I used it for a day or so and everything was hunky-dory, but then it stopped. Couldn't fetch mail. Domain names not recognised etc etc, left it for a day or so assuming it was a NTL problem that would eventually be resolved, but it wasn't..so I called NTL who checked the connection and reported that it was a problem on my (PC) side and had deep-inhalations of air when I mentioned the word 'linux' (though to be fair, they did try). Reinstalled Ubuntu..worked for a bit then, stopped again (permanently) so I have gone to Windows (someone tell me where the 'stop telling me the bloody obvious' button is) XP and so far (1 hour in) its still working. Haven't tried it on Mandrake, though I will in a coupla days. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated - I have done the usual searches with no luck, though I am starting to guess that it may be a ethernet card / motherboard problem :( :( specs K7 Triton Gigabyte MBoard Athlon (XP?) 1.7 CPU Macronix 98715 Ethernet card 1/2 gig RAM NVidia FX5700 Vid Card Soundblaster Live!
