xanim can't be removed!!!!

Hello,

 

Once upon a time, I installed the rpm xanim-full-2.80.1-1.i386.rpm on my system (Mandrake 10.1).

 

Now, when I want to upgrade glibc-2.3.3-21mdk to glibc-2.3.3-23mdk, the system says that it first have to uninstall xanim. Unfortunately, the uninstallation fails because :

glibc = 2.0.7-29. is needed.

 

The rpm info says that:

Description : XAnim-full is a release of xanim which includes all of the Linux/x86 (libc 2.0x) decoders.

Fichiers :

‎le paquetage xanim-full-2.80.1-1 n'est pas installé

Changelog :

le paquetage xanim-full-2.80.1-1 n'est pas installé

 

which means that xanim is NOT install on my system according to the system itself. But xanim is obviously installed and work very well.

I tried the command line 'rpm -e xanim', and it seems to work, but finally, xanim is still on the system.

 

Could someone help???

run rpm --rebuilddb as root, see if that helps.

 

(oh, and in future, don't install non-official RPMs like this one, it only leads to heartache. :>)

Thanks for replying.

I tried rpm --rebuilddb as root. But, the problem is still unchanged.

When I try: rpm --verify xanim, it says : dépendances non satisfaites pour xanim-full-2.80.1-1: glibc = 2.0.7-29

The problem is each time I try to uninstall xanim, it seems to be successful. And I have no error returned. But in fact, the rpm is still there.
