Guest next_gener
I am trying to use XMMS for playing CDs but there is no sound. Other media players work fine so I know its XMMS. I have got ALSA aRts OSS and eSound installed on Mandrake 10.1 (Download) using KDE Also, is there any way to make XMMS auto play CDs? Thanks for any help. aioshin
welcome! since other than Xmms, your sounds works fine, try to navigate the options - preferences of XMMS, you will find there I/O settings and plug-ins, try to play around on it, change those defaults... hope u'll make it work

aRTee
There is a special plugin that relies on reading the cd data digitally and passing it; forgot the name, something like cdread. Give that a try. BTW you're sure you're trying to read from the correct device?
Guest next_gener
OK, got it fixed, it was the aRts output plugin and Digital Audion extraction was needed together. ALSA doesnt work with Digital Audio Extraction. Thanks for all your help everyone.
