one partition gets unmounted

i have reinstalled Mandrake 10.0 two days back and after that whenever i shut down the system, one partition gets unmounted . the next time, it has to be mounted again through diskdrake. can

anyone please help on how to solve this problem?

/etc/fstab

Basically, in order to mount any partition, you need to add an entry to /etc/fstab for that partition. fstab is processed on startup to fully mount "EVERYTHING". If you cleared out your fstab file, your system wouldn't startup.

 

Note: Make a backup copy before you start working with this file. Just in case you need to restore it.

 

Note: You can test your changes by unmounting the partition you referred too and then typing

 

mount -a

 

This will mount all fstab entries.

thanx !!! cannonfooder for this explanation !! i have 2 hard drives and i got like 8 partitions mounted on the mandrake startup i really wanted this to stop !! now i know how :D
