ioffer
excuse my newbieness in advance. Yesterday I installed mandrake 10.1 and am now trying to install xmms to no avail. I'd like to know if my error is with xmms or if it's a compiler problem. I was getting some compiler errors and needed to install gcc and gcc-c++ packages (and their dependencies -- used urpmi) NOW I'm getting this: checking for glib-config... no checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.2... no *** The glib-config script installed by GLIB could not be found *** If GLIB was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in *** your path, or set the GLIB_CONFIG environment variable to the *** full path to glib-config. configure: error: *** GLIB >= 1.2.2 not installed - please install first *** i do not have a file on my computer called glib_config (using find) and "urpmi glib" says 'already installed' --- do i have to install an older package to get xmms to install? Am I going to have this problem with other installations? Will installing an older version of glib do funky stuff to my computer? Thank you. daniewicz
Did you search for glib-config (as the error message says) or glib_config (as you wrote)? I have a glib-congfig in /usr/bin/ Why are compiling xmms? Is it not on the 3 installation CD's? Xmms is on the 10.0 CD's.
bvc
yeah, just do, as root; urpmi xmms or better, use the software management>install to get it and all the goodies that can be added. if you really want to compile do; urpmf glib-config and install the glib pkg it list with; urpmi <name> or use the software management>install to install it Edited February 16, 2005 by bvc
