Pierre04
Greetings to All,, Been struggling with this error for a while. Perhaps someone has conquered it in the past, and can point me in the right direction. Security updates complete with no issues. When I attempt to installBug Fixes and Normal Updates I get this error: "There was a problem during the installation: qt3-common = 3.3.3-26mdk is needed by (installed) libqt3-3.3.3-26mdk" Looks like a version issue, dependancy issue, or compatability issue... The Linux install is MDK 10.1 Official. Uname -r reports MDK 2.6.8.1-12mdk rpm -qa|grep kernel reports kernel-2.6.8.1.12mdk-1-1mdk nvidia-kernel-2.6.8.1-12mdk-6111-1mdk How do I go about resolving this? Yup, Linux NOOB ... HELP! (grin) TIA!
Guest anon
Hmmm.......I just updated that file with no problem but you might want to either update your source or try another source, the latest version for that file is libqt3.3.3-27.1.101mdk
Pierre04
Thanks for the suggestion anon. I did change to a couple of different sources after your suggestion. No Joy, same error message. So - I decided to try from some other GUI - Gnome 2.6 runnning the RPMDrake gets the same error. I think I will force a file system check and see what happens... after I back up the system of course... (grin) Any other suggestions? I am holding about 250Megs of updates back with this error... I appreciate the assistance!
Pierre04
Okay, managed to get all the updates installed except the "qt3-common-3.3.3-27.1.101mdk" which still issues the same error. Can I, or should I, FORCE the installation of this an RPM? This is what the package details per RPMDrake: *Begin Description* Name: qt3-common Version: 3.3.3-27.1.101mdk Size: 589 KB Importance: bugfix Medium: update_source Currently installed version: 3.3.3-26mdk Summary: config, language file for Qt Reason for update: A problem exits in qt3 on the x86_64 platform when trying to switch an application to fullscreen mode. The updated packages correct the issue. %update This update brings into sync the x86 version of qt3 and also provides the 32bit compatability packages for x86_64. *End Description* I am running the i586 version, not the 64bit. Am I even concerned about this after reviewing the update description? TIA!
Pierre04
>>>Bump<<< Any thoughts on this issue? TIA!
Guest anon
Not really, but you could try this, open a consol as root (su) and rebuild the database with: rpm --rebuilddb (Wait for it to finish ) Then type: urpmi qt3-common That might fix the problem or give you more detailed info if it doesn't.
