fuzzylizard
On my desktop I have a little icon for XSane /dev/usb/scanner0. I do have a scanner attached to my computer, but it is not supported under linux. It is an Agfa SnapScan Touch scanner, the only scanner in that line that is not supported (I have checked the sane website many times to confirm this.) So, what I would like to do is to remove it. However, if I try to trash it, it tells me I do not have permission. If I su to root and try to trash it from its home in /usr/share/apps/kdesktop/Desktop it simply reappears the next time I reboot. The thing just does not want to go away. So, anyone know how to get rid of it for good?
Guest Mandrake_Mouse
The only way I know to make sure it goes away for good is to unplug the scanner, or uninstall SANE. In making things easier to use by installing/making icons FOR you, a few pains in the rear like this one have surfaced. As long as you have the scanner attached, and SANE is installed, the icons will keep coming back (at least in my experience).
Guest turi
Having the same problem too. Want to get rid of it without unplugging scanner and uninstalling XSane. Any ideas? There has to be a way!

pmpatrick
Mine disappears as soon as I turn the power off on the scanner and reappears when I turn the power back on.
