ACPI Problems

I am trying to install Mandrake 10.1. The install goes just fine without any problems. When the computer reboots if I go under the 'linux' option, I get just a blank screen. If I do the 'no-fb' option, it stops booting after loading the ACPI modules.

I added two test options that had ACPI and APM turned off, and that will boot until I get an error as it checks the root file system:

/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part5 - cannot find file or block (or something along those lines).

Any ideas?

I ended up downloading and running the SuSE 9.1 Live Eval CD, and used the options for it's safe run.

For the Compaq Presario 705, I needed to use these settings for Mandrake 10.1 Community to work:

ide=nodma apci=off apm=off
