Guest ramped
i am a complete linux newbie (2 days i have been using it now!) but so far am really happy with my mdk experiance. when the mdk installer boots the computer, as its going throught the boot process there is a picture of Tux at the top of the screen and the text is in a nicer than usual resolution. my question is how do i get that pic to come up when i am booting normally? i have tried a couple of options in /etc/lilo.conf, but when i change the VGA option it only changes the text resolution, but still no Tux... sorry to take up everyone's time with this, but its just something i would like to have :)
hea
Do you have a text based bootsequence and want to have graphic? I was just trying to get rid of the graphics and ... well look at this post http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php?t=2210
Guest ramped
i didn't like the big mdk loader picture, but i removed that by editing (with vi under root) /etc/lilo.conf the line where it says vga=<something> (it will be about 5 lines under the image=/boot/vmlinuz or whatever kernel you are trying to load. if you change the vga line to read a number 1-9 (representing differant resolutions, trial and error :) it will remove the mdk image from boot. eg. at the moment i have vga=9 which is kind of an odd resolution, but it works. don't forget to run the command lilo from the shell under root to update the options. what i am trying to do is get the little picture of tux to come up at the top of the screen, like when the mdk installer boots. Cannonfodder
maybe you guys ought to just swap lilo.conf files?
