Guest elpaw
Hi I'm a total linewbie (so bear with me :S) and I have recently acquired an old PC, so I thought I would install Linux on it. A friend recommended mandrake, as it was the easiest to get the hang of, so I downloaded 10.1 Official. I have tried installing it, but the PC just restarts when it gets to a certain point. this is what is printed to the screen: "proceeding, please wait.... Please wait while probing serial ports..... sending termination signals...done sending kill signals...done unmounting filesystems... unmount failed: /tmp/image" and then the computer restarts (displaying that message for about a millisecond, so i had to film and replay it just to catch what it said). This repeats itself (i.e. after the computer has restarted, it again loads the CD and starts installing, but when it gets to that point, it restarts again. What could be the problem? aRTee
Can you tell us your system specs? What external hardware do you have connected? Also, check for problematic bios settings.
