Guest tnine
Hi all, I'm having major problems with acpi. When enabled it freezes mandrake on boot. I just get a black screen when lilo attempts to load the kernel image. I've tried acpi=on noapic nolapic, with no results. With mandrake 10, I simply recompiled the kernel with AMD powernow and Mobile technology in it, and everything worked perfectly. With 10.1, if I recompile, acpi works, but I receive errors or practically every module when I boot. I'm not a noob, but I'm not a guru either, and I'm quite frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
imdeemvp
I am having same problem. My fan is always running and I can see to get acpi working. ac_dispatcher
2 things: First try: acpi=ht then what about trying a different kernel? Maybe just try to compile a Vanilla kernel? The nitro patch works good on my lappy too. :D
ac_dispatcher
tnine- have you seen this: http://www.worldofjon.com/artze4560us.html imdeemvp- Look for a similar Laptop series- http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/compaq.html
ac_dispatcher
Here is another question. Is it just MDL 10.1 or every Distro? Have you tried some live-cd's to see if does the same? I suggest Knoppix, PcLinuxOS, or Mepis.
imdeemvp
Just with mdk 10.1.....I works fine with fc3. I already checked those sites with no results. I have a fairly new laptop. acpi=ht was there after installation but did solve my issue. I replaced mdk 10.1 with fc3 and now I am fine.
