Guest trekkie1701c
I'm not sure if this has been covered yet (i just didn't see it) I have Mandrake 9, and want to format a 500mb HD to work with Mandrake, for file storage. It has another liinux OS on it (OpenLinux - which I now hate). How do I install it? Also, I have a soundcard that doens't work. I can't find the name of it or anything to help as to getting drivers; however, I have an old SB16, that has less features. Is there a way to autodetect this card, or do I have to switch to my SB16 and find an installer for that?
papaschtroumpf
on a default install the card should be autodetected at boot. Maybe it is being detected but not setup properly, use hte mandrake control center harddrake applet to list your hardware and see if it's listed there (I think there is also an option top re-detect the hardware, or maybe it always does when you get into the app, can't remember) use dmesg to see if there is anything related to it in the boot messages (error message for example)
