Guest jirqa
Hello all, I have problem that is discused here but I found no answer that would help me. I have installed Mandrake 10.1 Community on my Acer Aspire 1302XC. There is also MS WXP. Discs are as follows: /dev/hda1 windows /dev/hda5 ext3 / /dev/hda6 swap /dev/hda7 ext3 /home linux loads fine, windows does not. It says NTLDR not found. I tried: - boot from CD and F2 rescue rebuild windows partition - boot from CD and F2 rescur rewrite boot-loader - boot MS XP and R and fixboot - boot MS XP and R and fixmbr - lilo -v -M /dev/hda1 - use Grub instead of Lilo and nothing helped. Does anyone have an idea what to do? I read about the disc geometry problem and LBA but my BIOS does not enable me to change it. It is not even displayed. thanks Jirqa
thatguy
Try booting XP and go past the first opportunity to repair. Then there's one more screen (I think) where you still act like you're going to install, but then the next screen, you'll get another chance to hit R to do an automated repair. That should do it. Watch for the second chance to do a repair (automated), because that screen in between might not be there or there might be two in between. I'm rusty.
