Guest Alexxx
it's seems impossible to install mdk 10.1 on my notebook. I boot with the CD1, the install cd. It's boot normaly on the cd, I press enter to installl, and after there is the text interface, where there is the usb detection, and after the blue "window": "Loading program into memory..." Normaly, in this stage, a red loding progress bar appear. But for me... nothing. so I hit alft+F4 to watch the kernel msg, and I can read: hdc: command error: status=0x51 (DriveReady SeekComplete Error) hdc: command error: error=0x50 end request: I/O error, dev hdc, sector 1224556 Buffer I/O error on device hdc, logical block 306139 These 4 lines appears many times, but in the last two lines, the numbers change. I try with the 2.6 and 2.4 kernel, and have the same problem. I try the cd on my desktop computer, and I have no problem. The 10.1 community version work very fine and have no problem on my notebook. So I don't understand why this error :/ My notebook is a compaq presario 2173EA (Hp - Compaq Presario 2173ea - P4-M 2.2 Ghz - Ram 512 Mo - Dd 60 Go - Combinaison Cd-Rw / Dvd-Rom - Modem - Rés. En, Fast En). if someone can hellp me? :)
SpikeyKlitske
Hi there, I am not an expert at all but your problem sounds like one i have seen here many times before. By the looks of it you had linux installed before, a previous version that is, which might be the problem if you are using a sata hard disk which uses a different device abbreviation than previous versions of mdk. That can easily be fixed in the lilo file. Perhaps you could do a search on this and find your problem solved.

SpikeyKlitske
Yes indeed my bad, hdc is your cdrom drive. Did you verify that the downloads are valid (sumcheck) and that your cd's are burned correctly?
