it installed with some problems the first time but i got around that and it ran. then i had to reinstall it cause i found a bigger hard drive around. now it is having boot trouble. i have narrowed it down to the point where it runs init 3 (runlevel 3). i have got a prompt and ran init 3 and got the same error. i have tried to get around it but the MB has every built into it and i have the downloaded verison so the drivers arn't all there. i have the drivers on another CD but cause i can't get in to install them, they don't help. what i would like to know is what is causing the problem. i have tried reinstalling and going back to the first HDD. i have read though some post but none looked to have the same problem. i can get to a command prompt if that helps but i am not sure what to do from there.

Sounds like your getting to a command prompt but the graphical system called X is not loading. Boot to the prompt again, login with your user name and password at the command line login and try running:

$ startx

That will either send you into a gui or return an error message.
