eroica
hello, i'm trying to get samba working on my laptop but cant see the shares i've setup. I get the following when i try to see shares on my laptop: [root@Thinkpad eroica]# smbclient -L Thinkpad added interface ip=192.168.1.101 bcast=192.168.1.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 Connection to Thinkpad failed [root@Thinkpad eroica]# smbd -V Version 2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix my smb.conf file is very basic: # Global Parameters [global] workgroup = carrier netbios name = samba encrypt passwords = yes [homes] read only = no browseable = yes [share1] path = /home/eroica/Documents browseable = yes read only = no [share2] path = /home/eroica/Downloads browseable = yes read only = no comment = If u see this samba is OK i ran testparm and it said setup ok. I'm using this behind a wireless router w/dhcp. i'm running mdk 9.1 any suggestions about why i'm not able to see my own shares appreciated. my ultimate goal is to network w/win98 desktop. but i gotta get this working first. I thought maybe shorewall was culprit but revised rules using AllowSMB and even shutdown shorewall and iptables but still got message above... thanx, alan
