Guest colm1310
Hi, I have a powerbook g4 and am trying to install 10.1 onto it. i partitioned my disk and stuck in the cd and away i went. all went fine up until the bootloader config. i got an error: "install of bootloader failed... hmount /dev/hda2 not a Macintosh HFS volume. ybin /dev/hda2 appeas to have never had bootstrap installed. please run mkofboot" or something to that effect. now the when i turn on my powerbook it obviously has to search for the bootable drive (a folder with a question mark on it comes up) and it finds the mac drive and loads mac os x as normal. i've tried using hte open firmware option from the boot to try to boot linux (eg. boot hd:5,\boot) but had no joy whatsoever. i don't know the names of the partitions or anything so i'm kind of blind guessing. i'm very sure the linux installed correctly it's just a case of getting the bootloader upa nd running. can anyone help me?! thanks, colm
Guest mcvinyl
Hold down the option key when you start up. What do you see? If my memory is correct, you'll see icons representing your bootable partitions. Your Mandrake partition should have the penguin on it. Please post whether this works or not, I'm curious.
