Hi

I'm new to Linux. I've managed to get Mandrake installed on my system and am now running dual boot (with Win XP).

I connect to the internet in XP via a wireless PCI card (Am1772), but when running in Linux it is not regonised (it shows up in the hardware section under not regonised).

So my question is what do I do next? I guess I need a driver? I managed to find one called prism54, is this right?

Many thanks in advance.

:thanks:

Welcome to the Mandrakelinux Community

Before we get carried away. What version of Mandrakelinux have you installed? Also, is your wireless card 802.11b, 802.11a or 802.11g?

Does the manufacturers website mention Linux at all. If you need to check go to google and search for Linux with a site:manufacturer.com rule attached.

Let us know what you find.

Many thanks.

I have Mandrake linux 10.1.

The wireless PCI card is 802.11b, which has the Am1772 chipset.

I googled for linux+am1772+site:amd.com, which gave me this:

http://www.amd.com/us-en/ConnectivitySolut...%5E7520,00.html

At this point I got stuck, tried looking for the support area.

After further investigation, I found that the card I have was actually, an "Origo Wireless LAN PCI card" that uses the AMD "Am1772" chipset. However neither appear to have linux drivers.

I found this prisim54 driver (http://www.prism54.org/) which mentions Am1772 in the supported cards section (http://www.prism54.org/supported_cards.php). But havn't got a clue what do do next? Which thing should I download (wheres the InstallShield version?!!)

Thanks again.
