payasam
StarOffice 7 refused to install Java in MDK 10.0 saying that there was "no console found" - although I was in Konsole at that time. I am also unable to find files with the "whereis" command run from / .
Artificial Intelligence
Java = http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html Choose 'J2SE v 1.4.2_05 JRE ' and pick under linux the rpm. Then you are sure that Java is install :) Edited October 1, 2004 by Artificial Intelligence
payasam
Sorry I didn't express myself clearly. Java comes as a part of the StarOffice 7 installer. It just refused to install itself.
Artificial Intelligence
I guess you were su while trying? I don't have Star Office  but what I understand is that while star office is unpacking and installing itself it should also install java? But it refuse to do so? The language barrier strikes again :P
payasam
Right. SO comes with Java and asks if it should install it if it is not already present or if an older version is present. Not having Java does not make such a great difference. It's just an annoyance that there should be a complaint about no console.
