spunky424 Posted September 26, 2004 Report Share Posted September 26, 2004 i jus upgraded 10.0 official to 10.1 community through net using urpmi. i'm up and running right now ..but i'm trying to get the most current updates for 10.1 community but mandrakeupdate isnt werking it says error: "its impossible to retrieve the list of new packages from media'update-source'. Either this source is misconfigured, and in this case you should use the softwaremedia manager....." and so on....so how i get 10.1 updates? thanx in advance Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Kjel Oslund Posted September 27, 2004 Report Share Posted September 27, 2004 Mandrake doesn't set up an update source for community editions, only for official editions. If you want updates you have to subscribe to cooker (i.e. urpmi.addmedia cooker ...). A community release is still considered a development release by Mandrake. adamw Posted September 27, 2004 Report Share Posted September 27, 2004 to sound less negative - official releases require a separate updates tree because the main tree is static: nothing in it can be changed. the community version is more of a rolling distro, like cooker, so changes in the main tree are allowed. thus there's no need for a separate update tree.
