spinynorman
Can't recommend anything, but have you tried the SANE project?
polemicz
I know of nothing that runs for bot Linux and Windows. To my mind the Sane packages (I use Xsane) are vastly superior to trying to scan in Windows. I have an Epson and I find the Windows software for Epson awful and Xsane and Iscan software (an Epson package!) much better.
gmac
Thanks for that. I picked a lexmark scanner/printer, which is actually very good and since the were originally ibm I thought would support linux, teach me to be more careful. Can't justify replacing it just now. To use sane i would need a new scanner printer, since I will need a multi page scanner it can wait just now. If I want to print i just switch back to windows but it's kind of irritating. Since I can't as yet wholly use linux i am using as much of the software as I can no ms office
