growler Posted August 7, 2004 Report Share Posted August 7, 2004 To start a long story... I installed a new Geforce FX5700LE , DVD burner and MDK10.0 a few days ago on what had been a stable 9.2 box. The install was the usual walk through and then I installed the 6106 NVIDIA drivers , returned to X and started to set up my usual preferences. I then started to get random lockups/freezes. The cursor would move but I would get no mouse or keyboard responce at all. The only solution was a hard reboot. After searching all related topics on the board (and there are quite a few with this lockup problem) I could find no concensus for a remedy. So today tried the new 6111 driver set....voila...steady as usual all afternoon ( 6 hrs so far).
