Guest Ifrit
ARGH! I finally fixed the HDD problem but ran into another one. Whenever I get mandrake started installing, when I'm on the second disk and when it says there is around 2-7 minutes left till finish, it ALWAYS freezes, in which case I'm forced to restart. I have tried installing mandrake a good 12 times and have spent atleast 4+ hours straightening stuff out and this is really making me mad. Did anyone else have this problem? Lock-ups during installation? Anyway I can fix it? This is really making me mad..
Pzatch
Try to just do a minimum install and only tell the Mandrake GUI installer you only have the first disk since this one works. Do a md5sum check on the downloaded cd iso's. This could be a bad burn on the second disk. Some media is just not as good as others. If everything else checks out try reburning it. Make sure you have plug and play and shared vidio memory turned off in the bios.
illogic-al
ide=nodma as an option at the installation? i don't know if that will actually work but it's worth a try.
