Guest chrishax Posted July 31, 2004 Report Share Posted July 31, 2004 Hello, I have just installed Mandrake 10.0 on x86 hardware. I have an Asus mobo with Nvidia nforce including integrated NIC. The installation goes well but when I attempt to set up the network card I am asked questions such as "Assign Host Name from DHCP Address" and if so what is the DHCP Host Name. Since I do not understand what they are asking for (Comcast in Denver utilizes DHCP), I have been putting in the ip address of their DHCP server. I can get an internet conection but for some reason it thinks that 127.0.0.1 is the first DNS server so resolving names is very slow. Bottom line, can someone point me the direction of a manual that describes the possible selections in regards to a cable modem or walk me through properly setting up my Nic and internet connection.
