Guest Almagesto
Hi! I own Mandrake 10 and a Pinnacle PCTV card. To be able watching tv I need to configure it each time I start Linux, by using Harddrake. Otherwise XawTV,or TvTime, don't work. How can I configure my tv card to make it works without using Harddrake each time? Thank you, and sorry for my english.
feralertx
Yeah, the same happened to me too. What i did to make it work was to add a new line with "bttv" on it in /etc/modprobe.preload. Try it and see if it works for you too.
feralertx
Just to give you more a detailed how-to: - Open a terminal and type 'su' (in order to become root), then type in your root password. - Now give this command: "kwrite /etc/modprobe.preload" and the text editor will open the file for you. - Add a new line just with "bttv" on it. - Close the text editor an choose to save the file. - Restart your computer and open any tv program (XawTV, TvTime, etc...) to see if the changes did work. Its quite easy but post if you get stuck.
