Guest mandrake123
There are some quicktime (.mov) movies that xine will play but without sound. I get one of two error messages 1. No audio codec for "Qualcomm Purevoice" 2. No audio codec for "QDesign Audio V2" I have looked online and can find none of these codecs. Anyone have any info for me? Also note that Mplayer will also play these files but without sound.
Guest SuGa
Both are AFAIK proprietary codec without a linux port.
Guest mandrake123
Will Quicktime play these files with sound in Linux if i use crossover office?
hugerobot
Quicktime has been a total pain for me ever since moving from Linux to Windows. Is CrossOver the only real solution that works well for Quicktime in Linux?
Guest HaloScan
In my experience, yes hugerobot. Xine does play most Quicktime files on its own but one thing that isn't possible is playing Sorenson encoded files (which are most of the files you'll fine on apple.com/quicktime for example). However, Mplayer did recently find a way to hack around this limitation but as of now is a very rudimentary hack. They do have plans to polish it up and place it in the next Mplayer release though. Btw, mandrake123--the program you'd need is Crossover Plugin (not Crossover Office). Unless you have a relatively fast computer though, I'd recommend staying away from this option. Guest mandrake123
I have a Plll @ 933mhz with 512MB RAM 40 BG HD. Should that be ok, i am thinking of getting myself crossover office/plugin bundle for Christmas.
Guest HaloScan
Make sure you try their trial version before you purchase the real thing. :)
