Donald Posted May 29, 2004 Report Share Posted May 29, 2004 I am running Mandrake 10 on my emachines M5116 laptop. It has a Slimtype Combo LSC-24082K DVD/CD-rewriter, Intel 855GM (i810) videocard and 82801 DB AC'97 ICH4 845G/GL soundcard. I have a problem with playing DVDs. I use Xine 0.9.23 and have Totem 0.99.9 as well as Kaffeine 0.4 also. When I put a DVD in the drive it will automatically start Totem. This will crash instantly. Calling up Xine on screen and trying to play the DVD will result in sound but no picture. If I place Xine on screen and leave it there without trying to play the DVD on it and the try to play the DVD using Totem or Kaffeine, or even with another Xine on screen it works perfectly! The output from playing Xine in Konsole comes up with one obvious error - "unable to find map file ~/.dvdnav/DVDVolume.map". I have all the required things like libdvdcss and liddvdread.
