Just wanted to find out is it possible to get a program to run on startup of X? Or if not how is it possible to run VNC to accept connections when any users runs X.

Also can VNC be run in the command line?

I use ssh at the moment to connect to my mandrake machine then i want to be able to startX and get it to load VNC?

Am i going about this the wrong way or is there an easier way (Without getting X to load on startup!)

Thanks all

This would best be achieved with your .Xauthority file AFAIK. (man Xauthority) which is usually in your home folder (and a master file in /etc/X11 somewhere.

The vnc viewer can be run at the command line (I'm assuming you are using tight-vnc).

Yeah using tight-VNC.

So my .Xauthority is where startup scripts are stored?

Also i am a noob when it comes to scripting in linux......

Thanks

You can startup programs when an X-session begins with .Xauthority, but lemme just establish something: do you want the program to startup with X or with the Desktop Environment or Windows Manager?

Because Gnome and KDE have ways of starting up programs with them as well...

Sorry should have pointed that out b4, running KDE 3.2.

Also you said i can run VNC-viewer from the command - will that work when accepting incoming connections?
