Samba permissions

Hey all;

Here is the senario; Mounting Samba shares from Solaris 9 on to my MDL 10 machine, in order to edit the pages using CodeWeaver Crossoffice, and DreamWeaver MX. When I mount the html folder on Mandrake using

smbmount //solarisserver/myaccount /home/myaccount/html (This mounts without any errors)

The permissions go from "myaccount:staff" on the Solaris Server, to "1001:wheel" when mounted on the MDL box. Why is this happening ? It is preventing me from editing the pages and saving them, due to the permissions. I have done a ton of reading thus far, but I am not sure what I am missing ? Anyone have any suggestions ? Thanks ...

As a temporary fix for now, I have made sure the html files that I needed to ediit, were chmod 666 (RW) prior to smbmounting the shares. This enabled me to do the editing that I required.
