Firewire CD burner

Recommended Posts

I have a firewire CD burner, its the only drive on this compy, no internal CD or floppy.

It was setup and working automatically in Mandrake 9.2, kernel 2.4.22-10mdk

In arch (2.6.3) im having problems getting it going, I am able to read from it fine and mount it, but i am unable to work out how to burn.

It's devices are

/dev/cdroms/cdrom0

or

/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd

I tried XCDRoast but it would lock up the system when i started it and it was detecting drives.

I am using gcombust now, (for those who dont know, its a gui for cdrecord and other cli tools)

I get this error message when attempting to burn (as root)

Cdrecord 2.00.3 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling
TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM
scsidev: '0,0,0'
scsibus: 0 target: 0 lun: 0
/usr/bin/cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg0'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
/usr/bin/cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
/usr/bin/cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.

or after setting the device in Advanced override options i get this:

 Cdrecord 2.00.3 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling
TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM
scsidev: '/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd '
devname: '/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd '
scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2
Warning: Open by 'devname' is unintentional and not supported.
/usr/bin/cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd '. Cannot open SCSI driver.
/usr/bin/cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
