Shielder
Hi all, I think I may have figured out why I've been having problems with my install of MDK 9.0, but I would like some opinions about it... I've got a system (from my father-in-law) that is a 1.1GHz Athlon (200MHz FSB), with 256Mb RAM, 30GB HDD, M$Win ME, Gigabyte GA7-IXE4 mobo, 50x CDrom and Samsung SB-408B CD-RW. Now, I've been having the system halt on me as it is going through the installation process, last night didn't even get to second stage install before it halted. Anyway, I was wondering whether it is the arrangement of the CD-RW and CD-ROM that could be the cause of the problem. When I set the BIOS to boot from CD, the boot device is the CD-RW. COuld this be what is causing me the problem? If I change the connectors around, and boot from the CD not the CD-RW, does anyone think that I'll get MDK installed? I've got MDK7.2 on at the mo, but it doesn't recognise any CD devices... Thanks Andy :?
Pzatch
Try just diconecting any slave devices and setting the pins on the master cdrom to 'master no slave'. Maybe its just a problem with to many devices.
