Help with Internet

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to log on to the Internet using my laptop equiped with Mandrake 9.2. I have all my settings correct (IP, hostname, hardware, everything). But... I'm still not able to connect to the internet!

I would love to be able to surf using Linux because I'm tired of Windows. I've tried pinging websites and it just tells me the host cannot be found (e.g., www.yahoo.com reads back host www.yahoo.com not found).

Arrrgh!!

Please help.

IP Addres: 68.70.65.9

DHCP: 192.168.1.1

Wireless card: LAN-Express IEEE 802.11 PCI Adapter

Thats pretty much it. I have my hostname and IP address confirmed using tools on the net when I switch over to XP (i've got a dual boot). I think there might be a problem with the wireless lan card built in to the computer. Maybe Mandrake doesn't support it. Like I said earlier, it recognizes the card, but seemingly won't connect with it. I'm really very new to Linux but I would love to start learning. Any help you can provide me with would be awesome.

Thanks!
