coverup
This might be a question that has been answered zillion of times as everybody who owns a laptop does this sooner or later.... I would like to be able to connect an external monitor to the laptop and, if necessary, to switch between the LCD and CRT. I am not after a xinerama or dual monitor, simply I would like to use a CRT instead of the LCD screen. The way I did it: 1. connected the monitor; 2. turned the laptop on and boot init 3; 3. pressed Fn+F7 (I think) to switch to the CRT - works in init 3 (text console); 4. started XFdrake. chose the monotor, resolution, etc. 5. test - this is a fun part: XFdrake always probes the LCD, no matter what monitor and resolution I choose; 6. saved XF86Config-4. Now, when I start X, the monitor goes dead, and KDE stratrts on the LCD. I don't get this - XF86Config-4 contains all parameters of the monitor, but they are ignored. There must be a way to tell the Xserver which monitor to use (or both). Can somebody explain me how can i do this? Thanks.
