Guest sai krishna
Hi, I have a sony vaio VGN-SR290 laptop came with Windows Vista Business edition 32 bit. I have used partition manager and made an 40 GB drive. I have downloaded Mandriva One 2011 32 bits iso and made the bootable disc. I changed the boot priority to DVD drive and began installation. first it starts booting and loads some files and gave me two options 1) to launch 2) new installation i have selected new installation then installation starts and suddenly it throws white screen and after some time DVD drive stops reading DVD. Please help.. Thanks & Regards, Sai krishna
{BBI}Nexus{BBI}
Have you tried option 1. You might have a corrupt disc. If option 1 works, you should be able to install from there too. If option 1 fails, I would burn another disc. Try burning the disc at the slowest speed you can to avoid corruption. Also use the md5sum check to confirm you have a valid iso file before burning. Guest Nafcom
I am having the exact same error with my Sony Vaio VGN-FW46M if I try any other VGA mode than default. With default I am getting vertigal green stripes and that was it. I also found while googling no way to switch to text mode install? Thanks in advance! Guest Nafcom
I found the solution here: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?/topic/108609-live-dvd-dodgy-vga/ I wonder why this is mentioned nowhere as I bet many people have this problem or will have and most of them will just give up and move away!
