Guest bcurry
I'm installing on a new Dell Optiplex with integrated intel video (845). All the information follows. I hope someone can help, I'm trying to set up a small file server with MDK and have told the bosses around here that it wouldn't be too hard. Here is my XF86Config-4: # File generated by XFdrake. # ********************************************************************** # Refer to the XF86Config man page for details about the format of # this file. # ********************************************************************** Section "Files" # Multiple FontPath entries are allowed (they are concatenated together) # By default, Mandrake 6.0 and later now use a font server independent of # the X server to render fonts. Guest anon
Go to a terminal, log in as root (su ) and try running XFdrake --expert
Guest bcurry
Thanks, that at least got me into X. I can only use 640x480 @ 8bits though. I can't get an entire window onto the monitor screen so I can't see any of the buttons on the bottom of any of them. It won't allow me to re-size windows either. I'm using an Intel 82845 GL on-board video and a Dell 551a 15 inch monitor. I really dislike integrated video and sound, but we use what the company buys and in this case, they just got 25 of these machines. Working in Mandrake Control Center-Hardware, I can try to change the settings, but it always tells me that the monitor can't handle anything above the current 640x480@8bits. I'm at a bit of a loss. Guest bcurry
I at least figured out how to move the windows around. I'm going to try Mandrake update to see if there are any XFree86 updates.
